Refunded, Custom returned goods - ownership?

I purchased a camera from a reputable dealer in the EU in May. I returned it within 14 days as I needed the cash for something else.
Camera got stuck in customs, seller (a camera company)refunded and said they would deal with local customs.
a few weeks later in June the camera arrived back to me.
i notified the seller and they said they would arrange for another label to be sent out.
the camera has been sitting in my office still packaged up.
i guess my question is how long do they have to get their act together before I take formal ownership of the returned camera.
