Please could I get some advice. I don’t need a telling off I’m tired and have heard it all. I just need help and advice. So I have been paying Jacobs monthly and this month my payment was 3 days late. The next thing is I now have bailiff calling me demanding full payment of which I don’t have that kind of money. I have shown them proof of payment for this month but they won’t have it. They are banging on my door. I have locked up my house and done the necessary for them to avoid entry. Any advice as to what to do

Nobody here will tell you off, who do you actually owe the money to? Have you made the late payment now? Other debts? If you are struggling there are people out there to help you, we can try/point you in the right direction.

You need to call Jacobs to check if they have ended your payment plan or whether they are prepared to continue it. If you have a good reason for the late payment, tell them. Try to negotiate with the office to have the plan restarted and make the point that you can't afford to repay in full and have no assets worth seizing (if this is the case). The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1

If you know that you will be late paying an instalment in future, then you should tell them in advance to hopefully avoid this situation (may or may not work.) The people at the door take their orders from the office, so once they tell their agents to seek full payment the agents will not do otherwise until the office tell them to do so.
It’s a waste of time speaking to the people at the door, they don’t have the authority - provide the proof to the office, apologise, explain why the payment was late if this would help (depends on the reason) and ask for the plan to be resumed.0 -
Standard bailiff practice, contacting their office likely just as pointless, my advice is continue paying what was agreed and ignore all communication from Jacobs, continue to keep them outside, and don`t engage further as it unlikely to be of any benefit to you.
Just try and pay them off as soon as you can as they seldom listen to reason.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
