I've searched & searched for weeks but turned up nothing.. anyone recommend travel insurance that can cover a macbook & iphone in Mexico?
Cancun & Mexico city for 2 weeks.
Every policy I find doesn't cover devices over £1k (which is pretty much all devices nowadays), even if you specify extra gadget cover.
I don't think it's unreasonable to want to cover your laptop & phone on holiday!
Thanks

EDIT: does most travel insurance cover new for old? I'm reading online that they often charge similar premiums for both old and new devices, yet the payout is drastically different. For example, you might insure a 5-year-old gadget that originally cost £1k for £10 a month, but if it's lost, they only pay out £100, its current value. Meanwhile, insuring a brand-new £1k gadget for the same £10 a month could result in a full £1k payout if lost. This discrepancy is unfair—the cost of insurance should reflect the actual payout value, not just the original price.0

Home insurance can cover these worldwide.
Last time I looked travel insurance was usually indemnity rather than new for old.0 -
Home insurance is the better route, you can add "personal possessions" cover which will cover up to £X of your items whilst they are outside the home, just check what the unspecified item limit is and if either item is too expensive you can add them as a specified personal possessions cover and they'll be in addition to the £X. If you have top tier home insurance then PP isn't necessary as they provide global cover anyway.Henrywigan said:I've searched & searched for weeks but turned up nothing.. anyone recommend travel insurance that can cover a macbook & iphone in Mexico?

This obviously also protects you when you are out and about in the UK with them too.
Travel insurance typically isn't new for old but indemnity based meaning you get the secondhand value of the items in a claim. Also they will enquire about your home insurance etc too and look to share the claim with them if the terms allow.0 -
