Issue with Currys/Sony warranty

I purchased some Sony headphones from Currys last year. Ordered online, collected from store.
After a while there was an issue with the sound and I took them back for a warranty repair, they were away for a month.
The fault wasn't really fixed and I took then back again yesterday (14th August) for another repair.
The (emailed) receipt says "Order date 12th August 2023" and "Date of receipt 17th August". Currys said that's fine but Sony have refused a repair as for the 12 month warranty they go by the order date rather than the receipt date.
Do I have any rights here?

Under warranty, no. Any warranty is offered in addition to your statutory rights and can have (pretty much) any terms it likes. You may be able to claim under CRA but that’s with the retailer, so Curry’s and they would be within their rights to ask you to prove a manufacturing fault.1

Are the order and sale dates the same. If they are that's when Sony will offer a warranty from. They have to draw a line somewhere.0

Thank you for the reply. I've looked up Curry's T&C's, on their website and they say:
"If the fault with your product occurs within its guarantee period (normally 12 months from delivery) we will offer you a prompt repair service."
So, to me, Sony warranty aside, this should be covered by Curry's guarantee anyway. Unless they will argue that date of delivery is not the date of collection? But anyway, it only says that the fault has to occur within 12 months, not that it would need returning within 12 months. And as they had the item in before with the same fault then it's clear that the fault did occur within 12 months.
Worth arguing my case with them?0 -
Currys will not have any guarantee on this purchase, unless you took out one of their care plans. You have your consumer rights against them.Ash_Pole said:Thank you for the reply. I've looked up Curry's T&C's, on their website and they say:
