UC carers element and PIP query.

Hi all,
I have a joint claim UC with my partner who gets PIP. I am her main carer so we get the carers element on our claim.
My question is, if I myself was also to be eligible for PIP and were awarded, would this effect the carer element of UC. I still care for my partner since her condition is worse than mine.
Thanks for any info.

You can continue with carers element and claim PIP at the same time. There could be issues with a PIP claim if your caring duties contradict the reasons why you're claiming PIP but many people are carers at the same time as claiming PIP.
I don't claim UC because I still claim legacy benefits (ESA) but I claim PIP and carers allowance for looking after my daughter. She has no physical conditions like I do so my caring duties do not contradict.2 -
