Have tried all these and all claim no knowledge of the pension
At a loss now there should be a sizeable amount in the pension but still cannot trace where it might be

Can you remember your (rough) dates of scheme membership, which may be less than your period of employment? Also your age now?

Utmost took on the the plans with guarantees.  Halifax took on the unit linked plans without guarantees.

My Equitable pension finished up with ReAssure via Skandia and Utmost.
Skandia Life pensions were transferred to Reasure.  However, Utmost have no connection with ReAssure or Skandia.  To get from Utmost to Skandia it would have required a transfer.

...which suggests you had at least five years of scheme membership, at a time when you only needed two years of membership to have the right to a 'deferred pension', so it sounds as if there is certainly something to look for.

Could your EL pension have been transferred to your Total pension (assuming Total was your employer)?

Hi hoping someone can advise. My pension was with a large company and quite a few years ago the company went under. It was then moved as a pension pot to another company who sold it on to yet another company who guess what?-was dissolved.

The pension i had was with Equitable life a final salary pension scheme.  I got n touch with Utmost who took the pension scheme over. Their  reply was that all the funds from my employer were transferred in bulk to Hewlett Bacon and Woodrow. I then tried to find contact details for this company only to find they had been dissolved.
My employers pension scheme after Equitable life went under, was kept informed of my change of address so i assumed that was sufficient - i still get info from them annually

I am very confused. Please can you clarify?

If the EL pension was transferred to Total, then it wouldn't necessarily be obvious from a later statement from Total that had happened. Might be worth going back to the administrators of the Total scheme and asking if they could confirm.

  • In your original post last year you stated that your pension was with ‘a large company and quite a few years ago the company went under’.

Can you please tell us the name of the employer that went under?

I suspect we are getting sidetracked with assumptions of where it may have ended up.

  • Sorry the company didn't go under the pension scheme with EL did. My employer was Atotech part of Total
