No claims bonus transfer from policy holder to named driver

At the moment my husband is the policy holder and i am a named driver. We have 10 years NCB discount. I have been driving the car more recently more than him and when it comes to renewal i feel its right to get the policy in my name and him as the named driver. If we do this would we end up losing the 10 years NCB we've built up or can it still be used with him as a named driver ?
He also has another 10+ years NCB on another vehicle he owns. thanks

You won't need to change the policyholder.

Just make sure owner, registered keeper and main driver are correct or updated.

Have you asked your insurance company what options would be available?

When  my husband got a company car  we changed the family car policy to my name , on renewal.

As I had been a named driver on the policy they gave me a  'introductory no claim bonus'.

NCD is owned by a person, its not shared so "we" dont have ten years unless you are meaning he has six years and you have four years on another vehicle?

If it's his NCD and you become the policyholder instead then you will be getting quotes with zero NCD unless you have a spare NCD to be used? NCD can be used for up to two years after the last policy it was used on ended other than for Admiral that accept it for three years so his ten years wouldn't be lost immediately but would be a "spare" effectively until it lapses.

Some couples switch who the insured is each year to ensure both maintain an NCD should they ever get an additional vehicle or go their separate ways etc

Leave the policy in his name, just tell them you are now the main driver. It's unlikely to make any difference to premiums assuming you have similar driving records.
