eBay Sending Out Mass Emails for Private Sellers to Upgrade to Business

Yeah, the person who I spoke to asked me if I use it on another account, and I do use it on an older account as well. The guy said it's ok and shouldn't cause any issues. Maybe it's just a security prompt.

I'll try again tomorrow and give them another ring.

Question: If it doesn't get sorted in due time, would I be able to add any bank account (Personal Bank Account) just for the sake of upgrading and getting the benefits and then change the payouts bank account once they sort it out behind the scenes?

I have never tried to change my bank account but I suspect ebay would make it needlessly complicated. However to avoid potentially losing the upgrade offer, I'd definitely consider adding any account as a stop gap and worry about the rest later.

Someone on a thread on the community boards has posted a time line apparently from eBay that shows how those sellers ‘invited’ to become business sellers but who don’t switch may expect to be treated.

Sept 4: Payouts frozen
Sept 4 + 30 days: Listing restrictions (no new listings)
Sept 4 + 60 days: Listings removed
Sept 4 + 90 days: Account removed

    I eventually managed to get my account upgraded. It took a few phone calls to get the bank account verified but I'm through now.

 That is quite harsh. I would expect account to be restricted from selling but to remove account is a bit much.

Just a reminder the time limit for anyone affected by this is tomorrow, so decisions would need to be made today to avoid issues.

I am currently trying to upgrade mine to a business account but doesn’t seem to have the edit button in the account settings to do so and Ebay chat or phone is not working. Presuming they’ve been inundated with everybody trying to do this. Does anybody know why the edit button isn’t there for me to change to a business account?

there was someone on the community boards with the same issue , I think they got it resolved but I can't remember how they did it. I think, but I'm not sure, it was something to do with having to re verify their bank account, although frankly that doesn't make make sense.

My other account that got the prompt to upgrade got the date amended to 9th of September now.

I did it fairly recently, it was much easier than I expected. I did the same on Amazon and that requires everything bar a blood sample to get verified again!
