Post Office (Money) Online Saver Issue 74

Well, here goes - first post so pre-apologies for any blunders .. Hi all ..
A strange one to open with perhaps ..
Started the online application process on 2nd Aug & received email from Post Office Savings requesting items from (their) 'List C' be evidenced before the account could be fully opened. Duly posted required material to Armagh (& the Bank of Ireland (UK)) through the Freepost, Post Office Savings address. After a phonecall today (the line was not good) discovered my info was just being put on the system/checked .. 12 days to get this far, they have a cheque for £1 from me atm.
It all looks legit but I did whois the address the first email came from:
savings@mailer.postofficefinance.com
with reply address:
noreply@postofficefinance.com
whois postofficefinance.com - here's a brief edit:
Domain: postofficefinance.com
Registrar: DropCatch.com 1238 LLC
Registered On: 2024-05-15

It all just seems so unprofessional with a whiff of worry about it. Some reviews of Post Office Savings are anything but favourable & so far the Post Office have made the process seem to me almost .. dubious.
Thoughts welcomed - even if to confirm paranoia
..

The Post Office (Bank of Ireland) are legendary around here with their incompetence. Take my advice and put your money elsewhere

But now they have stopped deposits by direct debit I can't think of a reason to subject yourself to the anguish of dealing with them.1

Thank you surreysaver & Section62 & apologies for delay - notifications might need a tweak or I need to login here more often ..The whole thing with BoI (UK) was cancelled & cheque returned am happy to say but thank you for the reinforcement. Along the way, acquired a Tesco Bank savings account with nil deposit & settled for sticking with the Coventry who now have an iOS app that's useful. Thanks again
