Trade Centre UK warranty issues

Hi everyone,
I (stupidly) recently purchased a car from Trade Centre UK and was offered their ‘lifetime warranty’ for £1 for the first month and £56.99 subsequently after that. The salesman told me that I can have it for £1 for now then if I want to cancel I can. I called them to cancel today and was told as I purchased the car on 25/07/24 I had passed the cooling off period of 14 days and was now entered into a 12 month contract! I was 100% not told this at the dealership and asked how to make a complaint and was told to call the branch but nothing they can do! Does anyone have any experience with this awful company? I know it wa a huge mistake buying a car from them, reading reviews now but wondering if I can close the bank account the payments come out from but obviously I’m assuming I would still be liable to pay!
Thanks in advance

14 days is the usual legal "cooling-off" period for a financial product such as this insurance.

Does the paperwork you were given grant you any additional cancellation? The version online seems quite clear about 14-day cancellation.

    "Subscription
    • Your cover is immediate and so a minimum subscription term of 12 months applies
    • Your first instalment is payable upfront, so you are covered from the moment your car leaves our premises
    • You benefit from a 14-day cooling off period"

Cancelling the DD would just leave you liable for the balance of the 12 month £680 warranty, and potentially additional charges.

Yes, the time to read reviews is prior to signing on the dotted line.

To be fair, all used car places are the same.  Buy unwanted random stuff at auction or from other dealers, tart them up a bit to make them look as though they've been cared for by the previous owner, nice new set of number plates to lift the car ;), sell them on.
