Stolen Wallet (Credit/Debit Cards & Driving Licence)

Apologies if this is not the right board to talk about, but I unfortunately had my wallet either pickpocketed or lost in London Green Park over the weekend.

Just 4x credit/debit cards and my driving licence. I immediately froze and cancelled the cards and replacements are on their way. I've also asked the various banks I use if they can increase security on my account in case someone tries to call up and pretend to be me. I guess these cards are now useless bits of plastic as they are cancelled? I think I'm worried that with the cards combined with my driving licence, it could be quite the combo needed to do something more damaging.

I logged a report with the Met Police in London and have a crime/incident number.

I applied with the DVLA to get a new driving licence for £20 and put the crime number in the application too.

I'll swiftly apply for CIFAS for two years as soon as my new cards arrive this week.

Also contacted the 3 CRAs to put passwords on my credit files, so if someone tries to take out a loan, credit, etc, they shouldn't, in theory, get very far? I'm not sure how long this takes to get applied to my credit files with all 3 CRAs? I will monitor my reports every month or so.

I'm most worried about this as its photo ID and has name, DOB, address listed - can anything really been done?

Should I do anything else? I'm just trying to put my mind at rest, as it's the first time something like this has happened to me and very nervous, anxious and feel very exposed.

Thanks!

Why wait for the new cards?

Why wait for the new cards?
Because I don't have the expiry date or CVC code of the new cards yet.

Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought that you meant their protective registration service, which hinders credit applications in your name - this doesn't require details of your cards (other than one to pay for it, which could perhaps be someone else's):

It's states that the person applying also has to pay using a card in the same name. Unfortunately I couldn't use someone else's card, I tried that.

OK, but the point remains - you need one payment card to sign up for the service and don't need to wait until all cards are replaced, so as soon as you receive the first one you can proceed.

I once found a driving licence and took it to its owners house; they treated me with suspicion and didn't even say thanks.

Is the DVLA advice reference a found licence not to drop it in the nearest Royal Mail letterbox ?
No excuse for your Good Samaritan act to be unrecognised though.
