Another day of waiting and chasing phonecalls. The log jam on the DC has been an issue as you know. The relevant paperwork has now been booted up to one of the consultants as the original doctor is either on leave/absent/wrong shift/whatever. The poor guy on the bereavement team must be getting sick of my calls.
The domino effect of not getting this bloomin' sustificate is that the funeral date ( not that we have one) is going further and further back in the month. It is extremely frustrating, and not a little embarrassing, when well wishers enquire re same.
Knowing how erudite you lot are, can I have suggestions how to safely clean jewellery? Mrs M's is ok, but she inherited a load of stuff from her mum and G/mum which looks like it may be hallmarked, but is too grubby to see. Some is costume and/or paste, but there look to be some good pieces amongst the collection. Incidentally, I am not being mercenary, but potentially looking to the future. It would be nice to know if it has any value.
Hugs and spoons as always

Thanks for the start Mehefin, hoping you got the news you wanted yesterday so you can finalise arrangements.Things still hectic here with parents, DDad had urology appointment yesterday and now has an MRI booked for Thursday, can’t fault the NHS here they’re so quick and amazingly when they rang to schedule the MRI they noticed on his record he had some X-rays (unrelated) booked for September so said they’ll do those at the same time to save two trips. He has physio today. DMum’s cancer treatment restarts next week.Managed some gardening at the weekend before it got too hot. And having a day out meeting friends in mid-wales on Wednesday which will be a welcome distraction.Thoughts with all those that are unwell and best wishes for DP1’s little one, she’s such a star as is her mum!

Morning allLovely morning again here, not as hot as yesterday, hopefully.Sorry you're still not any closer to getting your DC Mehefin. Re the jewellery I think soaking in warm water and washing up liquid and then a gentle scrub with, say a cloth or old toothbrush might do the trick.Off out today with my old colleague from work to look at hundreds of wedding photos of her daughter's wedding last week!Hugs to everyone who needs one and take care all x9

Morning All
Thanks for the start Mehefin, your wait for the certificate is awful, hope you hear something today. Sorry, I have no idea how to clean jewellery safely - I have a lot of my Mum's/Gran's here that I really should sort through - no good sat in a box.
Yesterday's trip to Ikea was long but I got a few good ideas for the kitchen revamp and of course bought some stuff I really didn't need! Went to the allotment after to pick the last of the peas and broad beans, will get them down at the weekend.
Well, my holiday is finished - back to work today. Can't remember who was asking but the little one starts on Thursday and yes, she will be at the same school as me, just the way it works as I travel 10 miles and she lives in the catchment. We are planning on ignoring each other!
Must dash to the shower, hope everyone is well and you have a good day. Take care. XX11 -
Morning all. Thanks for starting us off @mehefin. What a disgrace situation with the DC. Please make a bigger fuss and bring in PALS.Well, after the awful start to yesterday the clouds cleared and the sun came out so the day was most pleasant. I collected my friend for the exercise class, she was a bit nervous about it but then found that she knew at least four others there so instantly felt more comfortable. After the three week break the work was harder than I expected. Use it or lose it is so true! Once I'd taken my friend home it was time for a little light shopping.@AA and @Nan - sorry you're both having tough times with aging and poorly parents. I hope that things improve soon, even slightly. Even though it's been three years since my beloved DMum died I still look back at the times beforehand with a mixture of pain and relief. It's all so challenging. There are plenty of dense white clouds covering the sky this morning though overnight the northern lights rippled through it. Such a wonderful sight gladdens the soul.
I wish everyone a good day.11 -
Morning all! Sunny already, but still quite cool. Successful shoping trips yesterday, bacon bought and more plates [ did a stop in Ikea on the way back but a whistle stop one, not a lingering wander] and OHs mum found the strogae things she's been looking for finally. Went to the bathroom place to look, we must have accidentally wandered into stupid money land, the prices!! Mabe I should make my own toilet out of bricks and compost and puppy dog tails or something...Builders are back today and I have OHs bicycle to drop off at the shop for repair. I bought a pork shoulder yesterday, I was thinking to mince it for meatballs or something but not sure yet, the dates good on it so it can wait a day or two. Yeah, I know, about moving, I'm only thinking about though, not doing anything until next year at least if at all...mehefin, for rings n stuff, piece of scrumpled up aluminium foil, hot water and bicarb of soda and soak for a few hours. My mother always did that for her sparklies, came up a treat. camelot, I did laugh at the idea of you two studiously ignoring each other
TA, enjoy your second sunny day! Allie, that's good that they lump them all together. dp1, good to hear she's eating a little bit. Nanny, if I had to cope with what you're currently coping with, I'd be venting all the time so don't worry, really...Izzy, oh what a shame about the car and the dog, poor thing...It's hard when they're upset and you can't explain to them..nd yes, that's why I thought panels would be better, good to have confirmation
Ruby, por Rob, well done ofr stepping up. Did the Soical type meetings not bring anything new for him? Gers, glad your excercies class was a friend success too. Take care all, eat ice cream and splurge...

Morning folks and thanks MEHEFIN for starting us off again. Sorry you are still playing the waiting game. You provoked a trip down memory lane for me with "sustificate" . I had an old great aunt who always said that, as well as "suscription" for prescription. Anyway I digress and I hope today brings results for you.
After yesterday's mostly drab skies the sun is shining here but I don't know for how long! I hope much later as I have a young chap coming late morning to clear out the gutters and clean them and all the window frames etc. A much needed job. I also tried to contact a young chap who had done a good job of making a friend's garden old age friendly (I'm looking at you front garden!) but I have mistimed that job as he is away until the end of the month touring France and Germany. It's waited this long it can wait a bit longer I suppose!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. AA I have been in your position and know how stressful and draining it is looking after elderly parents . Take care all and be safe xx

Morning all
Looks to be another lovely day I have two people coming today as Rob is still poorly, we are going to the sunflower maze today as the weather stopped us last time we were going, Taff I am in constant contact with the SW re Rob and she is keeping an eye on the situation things are happening behind the scenes.
Dinner tonight will be gammon egg and chips I cooked the gammon joint yesterday so it’s easier to carve today, dd is off today so she may very well cook.
Mehefin I have heard about the tin foil and bicarbonate thing too -must be worth a go, hope you hear something today xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -

Morning all, much cooler today but bright. After a dull start yesterday the sun came out later. We had our lunch out which was a nice treat & we went to visit our friends. We sat out in their garden and then went to collect DGS from his DM to take him to DS2s.He showed me a few of his footie tricks in the back garden
The leftover curry went down well once we got home later. I think tonight we'll have Italian meatballs from the butchers, & I have a garlic bread to go with it.
Gers, the Northern lights could even be seen in the NW here, DS went out at the front to take some photos, they showed up much more on the photos. There are so many trees around us though it makes it difficult to get a good spot to see.Izzy I sympathise with you on the homesick doggy and her not sleeping, happens a lot here now. I was also panicking this morning as pooch lost her footing on a slope earlier , her legs splayed and she couldn't move. After some encouragement failed, I ended up hauling her up a bit with her harness, enough for her to move her front legs, then supported her back legs and heaved her up- not easy when she's over 10st, poor old thing.Mehefin I can imagine Scoobys relief on the damp grass, bless her.I may pop to town on the bus & take my library books back, we'll see.Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
