I was charged £186 / hour ( min 1 hour) for fault diagnosis today at my local Mini dealership. I feel as though I am being fleeced. That's it - just needed to say it.

Have you ever considered why?0

Yes, and that is why I feel fleeced.0

Wait till you find out how much solicitors charge!0 -
That does seem like a lot.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

"I don't think that's unusual when you consider the skill, training and equipment needed."That did make me chuckle. I recently took my CVT Yaris to a franchised dealer for a fluid change. I wanted it done properly with the recommended Toyota CVT fluid. The skill, training and equipment was really well demonstrated. The skillful and highly trained "technician" drained the old fluid and then discovered they had none in stock! Nobody with an ounce of common sense drains and immobilises a car without checking first.

£186 per hour for the Mini Technician to work on the car.
How much did you pay for the complimentary coffee, speaking with the Receptionist, the Valeter, etc?0 -

20 years ago I had an Audi and it was almost £100 an hour back then, so its no surprise. Those glass palaces aren't cheap to run.
My local garage is based in a building which was built in about 1910 as a petrol station and car/bicycle repairs garage and now charges £60 an hour.

You can't compare your local back street garage prices to a main dealer.
There is a middle ground if you can find a local specialist who has the specialist equipment and knowledge.0 -
