Units for small kitchen

RAS said: With corner units access in a tight space is an issue. I have seen people open the wall behind one into a different room, and install a washing machine there, accessed from the bathroom or hall for example. But that might need freeholder permission? You mean like this ???

Well not like that! What a mess, or two
In both cases, the kitchen corner was left free of units, with support only for the counter top, plumbing for the washing machine installed. The wall was then pierced and tidied up before the washing machine was inserted into the gap. In one case the kitchen was higher than the bathroom, so the washer was a foot off the floor.
I also stayed in a flat where the kitchen counter top extended over a blank carcass set at right angles, with the washing machine installed there. Had to move the dining table which lived shoved up against the wall to access the washing machine. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
You can get spangly swivel racks for these now, they kind of come out as they swivel so you can get (almost) full use of the space.FreeBear said:
The downside to a U shaped kitchen is you have two corner units. These inevitably end up being a black hole where junk can lurk for 20-30 years. And with a slimline/full size corner, you'll probably end up needing a custom door on one of the units.johnnyren said:
Thanks , That looks great , It has shown that I really need to use the back wall as I don’t think as sink and oven/ hob would go together on the one sideCairnpapple said:This is an IKEA kitchen with full width on left, shallow units on right. Kitchen width of 6'6". Felt very useable in real life.

Great until stuff falls off and gets pushed back in to the dark depths. Also a pig to clean if you do that sort of thing.kimwp said:
