Hi All
I've just moved into a 2 bed new build apartment with EDF as the electric supplier. I have been monitoring the energy usage and wanted to get thoughts as it seems very high.

Currently the only appliances being used are a fridge/freezer and a small chest freezer (169 KWh per year). No lightings or power sockets are being used (I've not moved in properly as waiting for furniture).
when I check the IHD am surprised at the energy usage. For example, I went at 6pm one day I it showed that nearly 7KWh had been used for the day! This with only the 2 mentioned appliances plugged in.

The apartment has HIU and ventilation system, surely these can't be using so much energy? How much energy do they typically use?
I am concerned that when I do start living there and use appliances and lightings costs would be significantly higher.
Ive noticed that the meter serial number on EDF statement Is diff to one quoted by managing agent on inventory list, could this be a linked issue?
thanks

I remember the last flat I was in, I was given the wrong meter by the EA
Don't rely on the IHD either
Find out yourself which meter is yours1 -
Turn everything off at the consumer unit and if the IHD (running off the internal battery) doesn't read zero you know your IHD is paired with another apartment's meter.
You'll then need to contact the managing agent and get them to give you access to where the meters are to find the correct one for your apartment and verify with some heavy load tests using a kettle or fan heater.
Not sure how you'd then go about swapping the IHD with your neighbour. One for the agent to resolve I would think.1
