Faulty shower rights

Hi, I had my bathroom fitted 18 months ago. The plumber supplied the bathroom and by verbal agreement the shower that was being fitted was a brand one with a 5 year guarantee.

At the time the plumber said there was an issue with getting it to fit and so he went and bought a different one that did fit. I took it in good faith that one of similar quality was purchased.

18 months later and the shower no longer works. The plumber has been back out and it transpires that the shower he bought as a replacement was a cheap one with a 1 year guarantee.

As my invoice doesn’t state the brand of shower or any guarantee period, do I just need to suck this up as my own mistake for being too trusting and pay for a new one?
