Holiday sickness claim

Hi.

Started to feel a bit ill on our last day on holiday in Turkey. When we got back I tested positive for covid and also still ill with campylobacter (confirmed with doctor) that was two weeks ago now.

Can I make any sort claim from Expedia, travel insurance or credit card company?

If you are wondering about compensation, you’re not going get that for Covid and with regards to the campylobacter to you would need evidence as to where when and how you might have contracted it.

So you probably need to be a little bit more specific about what you are hoping to claim and why.

    Travel ins maybe.
Expedia would not think so given last day. Did you inform them?
    What sort of holiday?

Food poisoning, have you proof where you contracted it?

Unless they was a major outbreak of food poisoning in your hotel, you have no chance.

Did you contract  campylobacter out at  the resort, at the hotel, on the plane, in the airport or after you came home?

    Indeed.
Unless he ate and drank exclusively in the hotel for the duration of the holiday, which is unlikely, that cannot be confirmed as the source, likewise as you indicate, the illness could have been contracted elsewhere.

  • Confirmed case of campylobacter from the doctor. Hotel was all inclusive so only ate at the hotel and didn't leave the resort. Didn't eat at the airport as flight was silly early.

On the Facebook group page for the hotel, other people saying they were feeling ill a week after we got back.

  • Do you have legal cover on your home insurance?

Are you wanting to make a claim because you got ill, or because you suffered a loss as a result of becoming ill? e.g. unable to work as a self employed widget maker so no wages. If the former, you've no chance. If the latter, you'd have to be able to demonstrate the cause of the illness, and the amount of loss. If there are a number of people affected from the same hotel, then that should be a lot easier.
