Insurance say I can't claim for flight delay on package holiday.

Might also be worth looking at if the "activities" are also covered by any insurance as if they are classed as dangerous in any way they will normally be excluded as well.
I was trying to explain this to my father who went up in a microlite at the age of 86 and could not believe he was not covered by his normal holiday insurance if anything went wrong.

Take a look at the MBA website, they say they facilitate the flight bookings from Iceland to Greenland but any delay compensation is down to the airline.
They also recommend a specialist insurer to cover the trip, @al4x did you take that specific insurance?
Doesn't look like any of it falls under the UK package holiday regulations.

They appear to have an ATOL licence which would suggest they are selling packages, do you have an ATOL Certificate which would confirm the situation? If so then you are entitled to a refund for the lost two days. The flights only began earlier this year, I believe they are with Air Greenland but on small prop planes which need reasonably good weather to operate. However, if you look at the airline website it refers to 2 of their planes being out of service from 12th to 18th August after problems last week with no mention of weather. Although Iceland isn't part of the EU, I believe they follow EU261 so you should be being looked after but if the reason is weather, compensation is not payable. Most insurance policies have limited coverage for delays £25 after 12 hours for example, so you should be able to claim but it won't be much!0

They are not. I have rang.p00hsticks said:What does the package operator say ?
Is there not a representative with you ?
They are looking into it. But they want to get out of it too due to weather.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY FLIGHT FROM ICELAND TO GREENLAND IS DELAYED?
Flights to Greenland operate with Icelandair from Keflavik (Iceland). Whilst your local host facilitates booking the flights to/from Greenland, they have no responsibility for the flights themselves, and the flight is subject to the relevant airline's terms and conditions. Therefore, if your flight to Greenland is delayed due to poor weather, please liaise directly with the airline. Your local host will monitor the flights and collect you on arrival in Greenland, but can provide no further assistance regarding delays from Iceland. This only happens rarely, but it is possible.

I don’t however believe that this would not constitute a “package” under the U.K’s Package Travel Regulations.eskbanker said:
Some flights separately, but the clear implication was a package (of flights, activities, and presumably accommodation) starting from Iceland:NoodleDoodleMan said:I'm wondering if this constitutes a package ?The OP indicated that he had to source the flights separately.al4x said:I booked a holiday with much better adventures. The holiday included flights from Iceland to Greenland and all the activities in Greenland. But I needed to buy the flights to Iceland. The travel insurer seems also to view that the “package” holiday trip should be U.K. originating. In this case the air inclusive tour of Greenland/Iceland seems to commence in Iceland.
Knowing the tour or travel organisation and the tour purchased would be useful. The OP was asked this.0 -
The OP has already stated the operator in a very early post, Much Better Adventures.Westin said:

The details are here, including details of weather delays and their recommended insurers.

The double negative implies that you agree with me that this trip is within scope of the PTRs but something tells me you weren't actually agreeing!Westin said:

I don't see anything in the PTRs that requires packages to involve travel to/from the UK, and believe that a UK company selling services to UK customers is in scope, and this company's Ts & Cs seem to align with that (dependent on the exact structure of the parties involved with OP's booking):https://help.muchbetteradventures.com/customer-booking-terms25.
