But this doesn't absolve the retailer of their responsiblities.0 -
Hi
Same for me. I bought the same TV as you from a registered seller in the UK and only bought it coz samsung offered 5 year guarantee. That was under 2 years ago. I remember registering the product as well. Now it is broken and I am told it is the screen, same as you described. Now Samsung is telling me I didn't register for the 'extended warranty'. I feel they have sold a defective product to consumers and also conned people by making them register TWICE. I really want to take matters further because it is not fair for people to be sold defective product that will break under 2 years0 -

However, assuming you have some kind of proof of purchase (doesn't have to be a receipt but could be a bank or credit card statement etc) you still have statutory rights against the seller (not the manufacturer unless you bought direct). For that you will need some kind of expert report that the fault was inherent and not as a result of misuse.0 -
It is almost impossible to get anyone to issue a report to say a particular brand/model of TV has an inherent fault as they don’t have access to the stats. I tried and failed. In the absence of such report and the stats, the seller claims that a few broken sets doesn’t constitute an inherent fault.0
