Who is responsible for a deseased person's motability car?
There was only one named driver who uses the care for their persona use although they shouldn't.
Is it down to motability to retrieve the car or executor?
If it comes back damaged, late or maybe not even at all who is responsible?
Will motability bill any damage to the estate etc.?
Thanks

The appointed Executor is legally appointed and responsible for winding up the affairs of the deceased.0

And if the deceased had not made a will whoever takes on the administration of the estate.Hoenir said:The appointed Executor is legally appointed and responsible for winding up the affairs of the deceased.
However if this is the insolvent estate you were asking about in another thread, you inform Motorbility that the person has died, that the estate is insolvent and that no one is administering the estate. It will then be down to the them to recover the car.1 -

What if it's not known where it is?born_again said:Contact Motability & inform them of the death & where the car is.
Motability should have the address of main driver surely?
But if the person ignores motability, is the estate responsible for extra costs.
Plus DVLA will have untaxed the car. Again if the car is still being driven. Who is responsible?0 -

Just inform them of the death & let them deal with it. If that ends up with them reporting it as stolen, unless you are the person using the car. It is not your issue. Although they should need a copy of death cert.jonnyb1978 said:

When my wife died I informed Mobility and they handled it.
They allowed me to use the car until they collected it from the garage I agreed to deliver it to.
There were no excess charges
I was the only named driver and they wrote to me.0 -
Thanks. It was mainly out of curiosity. I just like to learn about these 'what if' scenarios.
Motability have been informed so I'll leave it in their hands.0
