Yes, I think that's what dmg meant-if your OH was arguing with the check in person, you were upgraded as a gesture of goodwill, because you were not satisfied with the service.
The reference to food, and the "muck" served in economy, is a give-away: Emirates have reasonably good food in economy. I think the most probable explanation is that the OP had never before experienced a high-quality airline, and so travelled in economy but thought they were in first class. In any case, no-one should rely on similar good fortune.

What I meant was that this thread was complete an utter nonsense and didn't warrant any further comment apart from to treat it with contempt as if it were Spam.
