in Credit cards
Hello all.
I bought a new PC from Currys before Christmas last year and opted to pay on a buy now pay later basis with Creation Finance. If I pay all of what I owe by 3rd September I will have no interest to pay. I was considering paying this with a credit card that awards me cash back. However when I logged in and went to pay on my Creation account I got the following message:
Make an extra payment anytime you like to lower your monthly Direct Debit payments or reduce the term of your Plan. We advise that you don't use a credit card to make payments as you may be charged fees or interest by your credit card provider.
If I am paying off my plan in full, does anyone know if I would be charged any extra fees or would it be just treated like a normal credit card payment? I know you get things like fees to pay or interest charges when you withdraw from an ATM with a credit card so I'm wondering if there is a similar situation with paying finance companies for credit taken out.
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks. 😊

They are correct, most credit card providers treat paying off another credit agreement as a cash advance with the associated fees.
You certainly will find that doing so will be excluded from any cashback deal.1 -
Thanks that crossed my mind about the possibility of it maybe being treated like a cash advance, thanks for confirming I won't take any chances. I'll just pay it off from a bank account. Thanks again.0
