when u plug it into your computer it should appear on your desktop and/or in itunes as an icon called "Saint_Chris's iPod" and your daughters should list as "S-C's daughter's iPod".
what size storage do the ipods have? if you have more music on your computer than the ipod can hold, it will create a playlist (located in the left hand panel of itunes) called "Saint_chris's ipod playlist" clicking on this will show you what songs are on your ipod. you can delete tracks from this list by clicking the track so its highlighted, then pressing backspace on your keyboard, and you can add tracks by dragging them onto the playlist title (in that left hand panel). the same goes for DD.Win 2008 in 2008 member number.....237!!! both are only 4gb and daughter has around 200 songs on it.0

right i think i've got it, when i-tunes open i click on devices, which shows my i-pod, then i click on music at the top, i have then clicked on selected play lists.
And then i have clicked on my st-chris playlist.
so i need to do the same with my daughters.
And do we then have to put our own songs into our own files.
And then i think that i have it correct.
please tell me i'm right.0 -
do u have more than 4GB of songs in itunes? if so, you'll get those playlists I mentioned created automatically when you first plugged your ipods into the computer.
when u plug it in and itunes opens, the ipod should show as an icon in the L.H. side panel of itunes and the ipod will have whatever name you used when registering it (usually your own name). the playlist will show up further down that L.H. panel and will be called "your ipod's name playlist" - use that to edit what songs you have on the ipod.
if you have less than 4GB of songs on itunes, when the ipod syncs it will likely put all songs in itunes onto your ipod. this isn't a problem ( as you amass more songs you'll get the playlist thingy I mentioned and can edit your playlist to exclude DD's songs), having DD's songs stored on the ipod while you have less than 4GB songs initunes wont do the ipod any harm. if its just an annoyance having to scroll through DD's songs to find your own when using your ipod, there is a way of bypassing the automatic synsing of your ipod when you plug it into itunes. it's really simple, but I've no idea of the steps for it anymore since I have around 300GB music on my computer - go to apple.com and search (the search function is in top R.H. corner) ipod nano and read the manual they supply (the URL for the manual can also be found in the quickstart manual included in the packaging with our ipod).Win 2008 in 2008 member number.....237!!!
