EBay search is nonsense.

If eBay were a person I would suggest they’d had to much to drink at lunchtime, the search has gone mad.
I’m looking for a particular pair of sunglasses , using the eBay web page I put the brand in and the word sunglasses. The first thing that comes up is a Disney DVD from Australia, which doesn’t include the word sunglasses or the brand name- and also why Australia?
The 2nd item is nailvarnish ,the word shades is in the description but not the title. There’s then a range of lipsticks, and a handbag from USA and finally near the bottom of the 1st page of the search we get some sunglasses, not the correct make but at least they are sunglasses.
Searching using the app on my phone shows me the sunglasses I want (different frame shade but brand is correct) as the third item.

Some sellers add a block of keywords in their listing and hide them by changing the text colour to match the background.1

It’s not as bad as Amazon’s search facility 🤷🏻♂️3

No there is that consolation. I seem to spend ages going around in circles on a lot of sites trying to find what I want. On Amazon it tends to be the sponsored posts from dodgy Far East companies- I recently wanted a Shark vacuum and despite using the left hand margin to choose Shark brand only I got a lot of look a like vacuums with random names.horsewithnoname said:It’s not as bad as Amazon’s search facility 🤷🏻♂️
I gave up in the end and bought from Shark direct .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. the other thing you need to watch out for on eBay search is that it's automatically sometimes defaults to a category that it thinks matches your search terms rather than looking everywhere
you have to change manually the category to everywhere
for example I was looking for a rosewood table and I typed in 'rosewood table' as a search term and it defaulted to antique tables rather than looking in all furniture2
