Tracking showing item delivered but buyer says he hasn't received it.

Options
Desperately need some guidance as this is the first time I am dealing with this sort of query.

I am the seller.
Sent a parcel 2nd class tracked.   Tracking shows delivered.   Buyer says he was home all day but no one has delivered anything and not knocked on door or rung the bell.
I have asked him to  look around for safe place, ask neighbour etc which he says he has done.
Not sure how to get in touch with delivery office.  Tried online but was going round in circles and came to the same spot every time!

Then found the phone number of the delivery office online and rang them - it was automated.  Read out the tracking number - 6 times as the bot could not understand me - B sounded like D, E sounded like 8 and so on!  I am not English and have an accent.   When the correct tracking was given after so many attempts, I was told they have no details on that tracking yet, call back later!!   Yet I can track online and it is showing as delivered.

Who do I ring and how do I speak to a human being?

Royal Mail.  Ordinary 2nd class small parcel.  It was not RM24 or RM48.  No photo of delivery.

Good luck with finding a real person. I haven't managed it yet. I don't know what is going on with Royal Mail recently, but I am "your customer" - I am up to my FIFTH formal complaint about packages marked as delivered when they haven't been, in just three months. (Not) amusingly, in my case, are some of the "delivery photo evidence". In one it showed the parcel being handed to "me" in my garden - I do not have a garden. Another showed a parcel propped on the top step of my house - leaning against the sign that says "DO NOT LEAVE PARCELS ON THE STEPS". To date the best I have got is (eventually) an email saying that they will tell the postperson to stop doing this! The best I can say is that there have been a couple of times when the parcel has shown as delivered and it arrived the next day, so it's possible it has been wrongly advised.

Oh dear!  I am not looking forward to this!  I wish they would make it easy to get in touch with them even via email.  I hate this robotic messages or trying to find the right option and going round and round and coming back to the same one where you started!

Your best bet here is to ask your buyer to speak with their actual postperson. I'm always amazed at how much they know - I recently got a parcel two weeks late, the posties had been trying to decipher the non-existent address and only my first name on it, then one of them thought it might be 'me' and was, amazingly, correct. If postie has delivered to the wrong address and you have a photograph, the buyer's postie may be able to solve the mystery

The only thing I can add is the ‘tracking’ should at least show the location it was scanned as delivered.
