My "old fashioned" meters work just fine. It takes me a couple of minutes at the end of each month to take readings and upload them to the UW website. I know how much gas and electric I use. I've been taking my own weekly readings since February 2009 so I know what to expect at different times of the year. A smart meter would not tell me anything I don't already know.

I've taken a look at their website. Doing a comparison with my current bills...First, NOT the Tracker... Their quote based on my actual usage...standing charges are higher than what I'm paying with UW, electricity 0.5p/kWh dearer, gas 0.04p/kWh cheaper than my latest bill, so I see no advantage. For the Tracker it's impossible to do a comparison with the kwH prices changing frequently.0 -

Thanks for those links. I'll do further research.

I don't know about my Smart meters they were installed in July 2015 so they're just over 9 years old but I have friends, 2, who still have meters reading in ft3 and the supplier has never bothered them to replace them with smart meters and one fried who until recently was getting letters and emails to get smart meters installed, the analogue were installed in August 1982, all he did when they sent the letters or emails was to reply that his meters weren't faulty and have being giving accurate readings since he move in in 1982.
The 2 that have meters reading in ft3 get bills in ft3 that are converted to give them the kWh used and they are within about 5 kWh of the previous months, one had a reading, a few years ago, where for 5 months the same number of kWh used on the electric was the same every month, I think it was about 87 kWh, when the supplier questioned it he said he was using less electric.Someone please tell me what money is1 -

You can compare these tariffs with the standard variable rate using Octopus Compare0 -

Bear in mind that all current SCs are higher than before April, and SCs set before that wont last forever.0
