Faulty item out of warranty - where do I stand legally.

The retailer (apparently) cannot repair the item, and It's unlikely they'll replace it - so you're probably looking at rejecting it for a refund. However, as you've had it for nearly 3 years, the amount you get back will be significantly reduced - it may not be enough to buy a new treadmill. With that in mind - it might still be your best option to see if there is a 3rd party who could repair it.older_sadder_and_wiser said:Thank you so much for this. Looks like I've got my homework cut out for the weekend !
So it seems that I should use the provisions of the consumer rights act to demand from both parties that a resolution is offered. When they reject that (I am assuming they will here) the next step is to what - Trading Standards ? or got strain to county court.
I am such a novice at this.
I think the potential problem is that if I engage a non approved third party, and they fail to resolve the issue, I may be unable to pursue the matter afterwards. But I thank you for your idea.theoretica said:The other option to explore would be whether someone who knows electronics can repair the faulty board? This will depend on what the fault is. Or find a different one which does the same job? Again, depend on what it does.
Also I would still be stuck with an item that is effectively - not serviceable or repairable......1 -
Here is a listing for a Bowflex board which may be suitable (you haven't told us the model number).
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/387040596078
They do say at the bottom of the listing they can repair 99% of treadmill control boards so it is worth contacting them.
There are other listings as well.1 -
Thank you everyone for all the advice. V12 finance are still telling me that Fitness Superstore will repair it - but when I call them they say they wont repair it. T
I tried to contact the people on eBay but they have not responded to several emails - but I will keep trying.
I am about to make my complaint to the ombudsman. Wish me Luck.

Presumably the financial one, given the involvement of the finance company and their joint liability.Phoenix72 said:
