I never thought I'd almost fall for a holiday scam – don't get caught out by a similar trick

    Had it been genuine it would have addressed you by name rather the dear traveler
    proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl
  • I agree with Eskbanker. 'Traveler' is simply American spelling - which wouldn't have struck me as odd, since Booking.com is an American company. Good on you for avoiding this scam though - what a relief!
  • All genuine emails would start with your name. Dear customer (or similar) or a massive red flag

    I spotted a scam on Booking.com - an apartment in London was available for £390 - this was a 4 bedroom apartment in Kensington  - and a very fancy one at that - my suspicion was aroused 
    I did a Google image search and realised the pics were for an apartment on sale for £8.5 million
    I rang the Estate Agents and alerted them - they were pretty shocked and said they'd contact the owner 
    I called Booking.com and they did....nothing
