Alliance parking, Cornwall - Fee paid online but no receipt

In July my nephew took my car to park at Daymer Bay in Cornwall. He paid online using the app but the phone coverage was spotty and even after ten minutes he got no receipt or acknowledgement. A few weeks later we got a demand for £60.  I appealed, showing my nephew's bank statement, clearly showing a payment made to Alliance Parking (albeit dated a day later, as online payments take a while to go through.) The appeal has just been rejected - 'We have examined our records and no payment was made." The records they attach are their computer records. But our record, ie my nephew's bank statement, shows that payment WAS made.

Their letter goes through various excuses people make and they are ALL about paper tickets falling off or blowing away.  Nothing about bad mobile coverage or electronic payments - so, years out of date, in other words. (As a VAT registered company, aren't they committing an offence by not providing a receipt?)

Anyway, what is my best course of action? I could pay the £60 but that sticks in my craw. I could appeal it but if that fails I might be liable for £100. I could tell them to eff off but I'd like to keep using that carpark!  What if I paid the £60 then sued them in small claims to get the parking fee of £6 back? That would be a good laugh, if a bit time-consuming... It's the time-wasting that irks me as much as the 'fine'!

    Nonononono.  Cannot be done.

Also, you don't PAY ex-clamper mentality Alliance Parking!  I would never have entered their car park in the first place but your nephew didn't know who they are.

Canny drivers don't use private car parks.  Young drivers need to learn to avoid them and use Council car parks or the street.

But you certainly don't 'appeal' nor pay.  No trying IAS. It is a farce. There's no appeal.

Don't tell me, you read that idea: 'paying then suing' on National Debtline or Citizens' Advice? It is just not good enough advice and it worries me that the public read it.

Just ignore Alliance Parking now. Yes. Ignore.  Open all letters to be sure it isn't a court claim or LBC.

Tell them if you move house within 6 years.

Search the forum to read other threads about a firm that IMHO are a bunch of shysters who set people up to fail (opinion based on all reports on this forum and on Trustpilot).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
