Hi I have had a letter yesterday and today someone turned up at my door re a debt from over ten years ago, maybe 15 years. What is my best course of action. Assumed after so many years they don’t chase but obviously not lol not heard a thing in all these years

who was the letter from?
who turned up?
what did the letter say?
what did the person who "turned up" say?
Do you know what the debt is for?
Do you know the last time you made a payment against it?
Chances are it's statute barred and they are just chancing it - but answers to the above may make things clearer.

It’s a bank loan and haven’t made any payments etc for 15 years or so. It was revolt I think it was demanding payment of the debt. Person at door I think has got me though as asked why I haven’t paid debt since letter other day and I said I believe it’s bared as ten plus years old and it was recorded convo he said, not sure if that is me admitting to the debt so I have to now pay?0

Person at door said it doesn’t matter how old debt is they can still collect it and they want their full payment0

Just ignore what they said, don't panic, the only thing you need to look out for is a Letter before Action, if they send one they are on a hiding to nothing unless they could convince a judge why they know it is statute barred and why they hadn't done anything earlier. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0

Do I do any contact with a letter or ignore? Also what do I do if they show up at door again? Thanks for help. Feel so uncomfortable as my kids heard it all as they answered the door

If you do answer the door again - make sure you have your mobile and record everything they say.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENojBfwErzk

Felt so embarrassed as my kids was stood there and he was not bothered so they are questioning me. It must be 15 years old now and my only debt I thought it was over as never even had any letter of Lloyds chasing payment in all the years. Hope they don’t keep turning up0

disabled Dan would love this type of post, he knows how to deal with these commission only employed rats
they have no power, they are doorstep debt collector, which you can ignore.
Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

I doubt they will come back, if they do just don't answer the door to them, imagine they are a double glazing salesman you have already told you are not interested. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0
