Recommendation for reputable Boiler/Central Heating cover?

I'm looking to get some boiler cover for my Ideal Logic (approx 6 years old) in preparation for the winter.  I only know about British Gas Homecare when I was with them many years ago.  If I was to draw up a shortlist of a few providers to research, who should they be?  Many thanks

We don't have cover, we put the money away to pay for the service and repair/replacement (when it comes).

The risk in self insuring is that the "big bill" arrives before you have the savings, but if it doesn't, then the money is yours. You're also free to find your own Gas Safe person to do the service, you're not tied to whoever British Gas send you.

See if it can be added to your home insurance.

We use a local company to service our boiler once a year. We do not pay for boiler cover as it is always more expensive than going to a local company.

Our service costs £75 per year (as of January this year) for a 6 year old Ideal Logic Combi.

We have a savings account that covers the costs of replacement parts or replacement of the boiler if necessary.

The mse article J found on Google search seems to only cover a couple of providers

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/boiler-insurance/

Which does periodic reviews of members views on their providers.

You need to be a member to see ratings - but it provides a fairly comprehensive list of alternatives.

You might be able to track down a paper copy at your local library.

    https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/boilers/article/boiler-maintenance/getting-the-best-boiler-service-a9h945b2brSV#boiler-servicing-customer-scores

But it has some interesting comments and traps to watch out for - like problems with duplicated cover on more comprehensive plans (e.g. with house insurance - and even more so the emergency cover bolt ons)  and huge rate hikes in 2nd year in its general guide

    https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/boiler-cover/article/how-to-choose-the-best-boiler-cover-aYodD8Z46xjC#how-to-get-cheap-boiler-cover

in past ive had quotes for family from Corgi, D&G and iirc Homserve for parents home - but couldnt persuade them to move from B Gas - despite some significant price differences - but at least had figures to quote when haggled at renewal time.

[ I've never bothered myself when had gas ch  - just got an irregular  service from local firm - maybe every 18m to 2 years  and paid ad hoc for repairs az and when.  Which says that for many will be cheaper - but then if unlucky could get a big bill.  So if on tight fixed income with no savings for shock bills or simply want reassurance then millions do take out these policies].

You are calling them out more than once a month? Surely it's time to bit the bullet and replace everything??

Me personally,  I don't bother, I'd rather save the .money and spend it if it goes tits up.
