Insurance whilst in between homes

Hi. We sold our house last week and the majority of our possessions are now in storage and insured.
We are due to complete on our new home in September and are staying with friends / family / holidays / air b n bs in between. We have all our high value items with us and I'm concerned that they aren't insured but don't know how to insure them. Whilst with friends we aren't technically on holiday so they aren't covered by our travel policy. Has anyone been in this situation and can advise?
Thanks
Laura

did you cancel your old home insurance already? They would be the obvious ones to speak to as many offer PP/all risk cover for items temporarily outside of your home but your duration may go beyond what some are comfortable with.
The other challenge of having cancelled, if you have, will be your answer to the question "how many years have you continuously held insurance"0
