    The other issue is if she were to continue to get worst (eg the rented flat doesnt cover her needs) any care costs will be means tested and to sell the house after her stroke or even now knowing it is likely that there would be some level of care needs will go against her. 

    HB is a now problem, but when people do what they think is best there are always other consequences…

    There is also the underlying question of who are they trying to do the best for, the mother or somebody else?
