Advice please on Finance Marker on car purchase
Hi all,
I'm (likely) purchasing a used car today and an HPI check showed outstanding finance via a Motability scheme lease.
Background history; the car is a Cat S write off but only a door was damaged and I am happy with the repair. The current seller bought it via a Copart auction and has repaired it for sale. I have seen the Copart invoice of sale as proof etc.
On discovering the finance flag, I have actually contacted Motability who were surprisingly helpful. They checked the reg and confirmed there is no outstanding finance agreement or ownership by them. The confirmed this in a text message to me along with the persons name, car reg etc (they use this over email).
I have two questions...am I right to assume that this would be classed as a sale in good faith, i.e. I have no knowledge of any outstanding finance on the car and have done my due diligence etc so as to not risk having the car repossessed or being saddled with someone's debt?
Second, how can I go about having this finance marker removed from the car history check?
I will be getting all the receipts I can and hopefully written assurance of a refund if i did become liable for someone's , from the seller.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
