Vinted postage option glitch

I’m not sure how many Vinted users there are on here but posting in case it gets picked up by Google.

The various groups and Vinted chat groups are full of people complaining that the postage options have glitched and sellers can no longer opt out of any of the options. Users are getting different responses from Vinted when complaining, some are being told it is a temporary issue, others are showing messages that just say that it is not possible to choose postage options.

For those not familiar with Vinted this can be a real issue. Vinted have integrated postage with Inpost , Evri, Yodel and DPD where labels or a QR code is provided. There is also an RM option that isn’t integrated. Sellers can usually disable the options they can’t use, so for instance if they don’t have a printer they can disable Inpost locker to home, or if they don’t have a local Yodel store they can disable that. At the moment all postage options are being offered to all buyers regardless of whether or not sellers can use them. Vinted are telling people to cancel sales where they can’t post, but sellers are aware too many cancellations will get them restricted. So all a bit of a nightmare.

  • This has happened to me. I cannot see any postage options at all in my settings-postage. Complained to Vinted. Appalling fob off non-sensical response. On the verge of closing my account and reverting back to eBay.

I have gone into my account via Google and my options are there.  Not there if I use the app on my phone

It appears to have been fixed now, thank goodness.

Looks like it wasn’t a glitch but a trial that failed

With apologies I saw this on another group and followed a link to the news story, I didn’t find this.

If a buyer can’t select an option it usually means there’s an issue with that courier in your area. You may find that the system has detected slow deliveries or perhaps a local issue.

  • I have just made my first two purchases on Vinted. Never again! I bought an item for £2.50 plus had to pay this insurance of .66p. I selected Everi postage at £2.89 but had £1.50 discount for my first go yet got billed for over £6! Same thing happened with the second purchase for a similar amount. I contacted the seller and she said she had no control over postage and perhaps I could cancel the sale. I don’t understand the method of trading. Why do we have to pay the insurance? Are the delivery people they chose so bad that they need insurance? It baffles me. I have tried to contact them but I have to wait until they can contact me.

The extra buyers premium is for Vinted, the sellers don't see either the postage element or the buyers premium at all (unless they use RM where a fixed amount is paid to seller after the sale completes). It is generally agreed that the buyers premium isn't insurance as such, merely Vinted fees for running the site, otherwise they would get no income from it at all as seller pays nothing.

As for the money off postage, the first purchase by a buyer, or sale by a seller usually attracts a free or discounted postage. However it usually only applies to the cheapest postage method which is Inpost. The breakdown of what is being taken is shown clearly before you commit to buy .

Here's one I Just bought- not quite so useful as I had a balance in my account, but hopefully shows how well the payment is broken down.

    Order summary

    Order £5.00
    Buyer Protection fee £0.95
    Shipping £2.99
Deducted from your Vinted Balance -£8.94
    Total to pay £0.00

Basically I would have paid £8.94 for an item that cost £5 plus postage. I always have my items delivered to my home which is why my postage element is higher.
