Outlet item returns

Hi
I recently bought a hair tool from QVC which was listed as an 'outlet' item. Their site states that these items:
"they may be returns from other customers or come from discounted ranges. They may not be in their original manufactured condition, however they will have undergone thorough testing before we choose to re-sell them."
However when this arrived, it had (very obviously) someone else's dark hair stuck through the bristles, so I don't think it was thoroughly checked at all.
I have emailed them to tell them this, and am obviously well inside the change of mind returns period, but I had to pay delivery, and the returns aren't free, so I was wondering would if the condition of the item would mean that I would eligible for a postage refund and for them to pay the return? Or is it just down to their own policy?
Thanks for reading

QVC say thorough testing, not thorough cleaning.
For something described as a hair tool, thorough testing probably just means checking that it heats up to a controlled temperature plus a PAT test for electrical safety.
Perhaps the tester tested it by pulling the tool through their own hair?
QVC's Outlet stuff seems to be about half the price of their new equivalents so you would not expect them to be new or like new. They advise they may be returns from other customers, and this seems to be the case with your hair tool.1 -
Ok thanks. This was not that much cheaper than other retailers, and I stupidly thought that it would look like a refurbished item, which I have bought before amd which was like new! Lesson learnt, thanks!0

If you are cancelling your contract then they should refund the outward postage (except if you opted for a more expensive option above the basic in which case they only need to refund the equivalent cost of their basic postage charge).
Personally wouldn’t be happy with hair on something but can it be washed/cleaned? (Perhaps unless it’s a sort of “intimate” hair gadget?)In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
