Hi @stu12345_2I actually looked at that GOV website earlier and went through most of the links - though I really appreciate you pointing it out to me.Strangely, the MoneyplusAdvice one led me to the moneyhelper.org.uk website which mentioned about five CAP debt centres in towns near to me. However when I checked them out (capuk.org/i-want-help), it reverted to the (capuk.org/get-help) which said there are no centres nearby. So, I don't know if they DID have these centres but they are no longer up and running for some reason and they are old links?I'll probably get my family member to ring Citizen's Advice.Second choice would then be National Debtline - not sure if they do a DRO, it just says they will explain how to apply.Adviceuk seemed to be a directoryPayPlan I wasn't sure about - think someone on here didn't do too well with them.Communitymoney advice did not have a nearby centre.Moneyplusadvice and Moneywellness are NOT free phone numbersWill keep you updated. Good luck on your DRO application - you seem to have been through the mill with your various applications. Hopefully you will finally be successful next week1

the main problem we had with citizens advice was they would not split the expenses 50 50 with wife, they say the car which I own would be all my expenses despite wife using it and paying half the running costs.
and I knew more about dros than the advisor did !!
it worked out I was too poor for a dro and wife too rich. unbelievable but true
money wellness is a free phone, you call them to book an appointment , they call you back in say a week for a 2 hour slot on phone.
the problem we had with them was cos we work part time, they said we will land full time jobs within 12 months cancelling the dro.so they won't let us apply for a dro.
we said we are happy in our part time jobs thank you very much, they would split the expenses 50 50 though.
their solution was £1 a month for a 1000 years.or some such nonsense.
they were also forceful and rude on the phone.
CAP wasn't demanding in saying we would get high paying full-time jobs or other such nonsense.
they added up our wages and then the expenses and made sure it fits.so we don't go over the £75 limits each or indeed go into a negative budget.
I know they have a hundred plus local agents in the UK. not sure if you can do it all online or phone, cos they give you a netcloud link where you screenshot all your paperwork and upload it to their main centre in Bradford for them to work out the droChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. So Stu's experience of the main players was not good and only CAP seem to be applying the rules as they were set up in 2009 by the Insolvency Service.
The major hubs, as set up and funded by the Money and Pensions Service, seem to be making up their own rules in addition to the actual ones. Whether by design, or incompetence due to huge numbers of paid staff new to the process, it would be good if the Insolvency Service would take more interest.
Feel free to complain2 -

Reading Stu`s recent posting history, its been a rollercoaster of an affair for him and his wife, the so called "competent authorities" providing this solution appear to be talking more people out of applying for various crack pot reasons, than actually processing applications, after all, is that not why they are there???
The criteria is set out for all to see, they should not be applying "what ifs" to the application process.

@stu12345_2 - I have just emailed CAP to ask if it is possible to do the application by telephone/online instead@fatbelly @sourcrates -It is so frustrating - they should all be following the same criteria and helping the process to be as clear and simple as possible. The very people they are supposedly trying to help definitely do not need any added pressure or obstacles placed on them.It is difficult enough taking that first step in the first place.stu is definitely tenacious - I am the same but the people needing this are usually not in a good place to keep fighting. I dread to think how many have been put off by poor advice and given up at the first hurdle.I might complain later - right now I am trying to focus on getting an Advisor and hopefully a DRO in place first.Thank you

when I had my fact finding interviews with CAP advisor, she had formed a social relationship with wife and I, and she wants to meet up say cup of coffee once this dro is all and running.
she did say to me I should get a job one day with CAP cos she said my debt knowledge is very good and said we were the most organised applicants she's ever met.
but she did say to relax and had concerns about my current and past stress levels with dealing about all this.
I told her it's easy to get debt, but much harder to get out of debt

I went through BR in 2012 . Very complicated situation with properties and a manipulative ex partner.
I had a trustee who was amazing and actually did the interview at my home.
We still exchange cards 12 years later...2 -
Mums With Debts appears to be FCA authorised for debt advice. I suggest asking them to put their advice that a DRO isn't possible with council tax rent arrears and water bill arrears in writing and then your friend making a formal complaint about it.
MWD don't do DROs so it doesn't sound as though a DRO adviser has looked at this. I don't see any reason to anticipate problems as this doesn't sound very complicated. National Debtline now do very few which I think are mainly for the self-employed. The local Citizens Advice would be best.

mums with debt are a trading name for united insolvency who propose and administer IVAs
I'd give them a big side berth and proceed to citizens advice bureau next, but if Christians against poverty can do the dro application online or by post that would be great, unless it's only face to face where you said no advisors in the area sadly

Frightening that they would consider an IVA for 6k of debt3
