Your old meter is reading 94473 so it won't be that long before it goes "round the clock".  That has potential to cause a problem when you submit a reading that is much lower than the previous one (because the meter has gone past 99999).

I think the electrical problems in your old house were coincidental to the installation of a smart meter.
This happened to my elec meter before I had it switched for a smart meter at the end of last year. Visually, it was identical to the OPs.

In my case, it went over 99999 to 00000 and EDF's billing system worked it out all correctly. It's probably one of the simpler checks to add to their billing systems; I did check it though.
My daughter's meter just went round the clock, handled seamlessly by EonNext. Didn't even add a leading 1on the billing as in 99999 to 100001, just went 99999 to 00001.

Sorry; maybe I was scare-mongering about potential round-the-clock issues?

I think it's a very valid thing to point out, as the problem does occasionally happen, although I imagine in most cases the billing systems can handle it without issue (and just like smart meters, people only tend to make posts here about it when an issue occurs and not when everything is running smoothly).

It would perhaps be much more likely in cases where estimated readings are being used and subsequently amended once an actual reading is provided, causing the billed readings to jump back and forth "around the clock".
