Carers allowance question

Options
My partner is looking to claim carers allowance for his mother. She is 80 and gets highest rates for DLA, and lives alone. Would she loose any money from the dla if he was to claim? We know that some disability premiums can be taken away if someone claims for carers, but can't seem to find any info.   Many thanks in advance

If she claims Pension credit and gets a severe disability premium added to her Pension credit because she lives alone, then she will lose this if your partner claims carers allowance for looking after her.

Thank you Rubyroobs, she does not get pension credit but I'm now informed she gets 16 hours of care from the county council. I get information in dribs and drabs... not sure if that will stop a carers allowance claim. Why on earth can't things be simple  :|
