They certainly can but you'd normally also change your website which currently states that UK Insurance is the only company they used.

No, they do personal lines as well as commercial in Motor and Home. They tend to focus on more unusual risks than your run of the mill, their claim on their website is that they've covered more rock stars than tattoo artists have. 

Presumably anyone who insured their car through RBS will be covered by Tradex 

According to their website they dont sell general car insurance any more and only Premier which is still underwritten by UK Insurance. If they have done a white label deal with someone else then its possible but unlikely that all would be Tradex as they are more of a niche provider whereas RBS is more a mass market brand but it could be with a broker like Budget who would have a wide range of insurers on their panel.

The Op has said he has cover with Tradex via RBS.

In answer to the original question, there are a few insurers I would use before Tradex.

Clearly not saying that but it is unusual for such a big deal to be done and no specialist press has spotted it, no PR statement given, own website has many points saying the opposite (never goes down well with the FCA/FOS to have wrong information on your website)

Unfortunately Quidco is one that doesn't list the people that have declined to quote so can't even see RBS on the list of insurers.

I only took out the policy 3 days ago - so don't have a hard copy yet !

I do have it on line though - what, exactly am I supposed to be checking details of ?

Who the actual insurer is, so you can ring them & find out the payment description. Should give their name & you should be able to check if their is a link. But if payment cam though when you expected & for the correct amount then it should not be a problem.

Yes they took correct payment on correct day
