Had to remind myself of that title! Just 'Chronicle'.

Just want to add that anyone who tests out their hi-fi capabilities by playing music from WISHBONE ASH really knows what they are talking about.
Can I ask what particular track you were referring to for the crashing cymbals evaluation ?

They're still touring after more than 50 years on the road, saw them last year for about the 20th time, FANTASTIC !

Forgot to add, my choice of speakers .... 50 year old WHARFEDALES

Vas Dis - the odd cymbal in there. And thumping bass.
Are there still two versions of the band going around? Such a shame.

Vas Dis had crossed my mind I must admit.

Yes, Andy Powell won the lawsuit to keep using the band name Wishbone Ash whilst Martin Turner's version has to tour as "Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash"

I understand MT was claiming it was his to use as he was a founding member, AP joined just a little later, but many years later MT left the band and never performed (as WA) for many years whilst AP continued uninterrupted and continuously as WA for decade after decade

Never seen MT'sWA live, just on Youtube and can't say I want to (they've both played in the same local venue just weeks apart)
In comparison I find MT'sWa lacks punch, sparkle or charisma, nothing like the original performances, almost drab and boring.

AP on the other hand still oozes WA despite his vocals not being quite as they were 50 years ago
Of course come February he will be 75 years old !!!

ARGUS is up there with Dark Side of the Moon, Rumours, Tubular Bells and Beethoven's 5th/9th

Hard to argue with that; they are all classics of their type.
Except, I personally find DSotM just a bit tooo 'perfect' in its execution - too pleased with itself. Enough to now be off-putting after the initial WOW! that I shared with everyone else when it was released. I soon found many tracks on it quite tedious in its up-its-own-bottomness
    Us...us...us...us...us...us...us...aaand them...them...
Put it this way - I won't be testing my speakers with it. 'Cos I don't have it.

    Can't disagree with your comments.

I could listen to Argus everyday of the week, 52 weeks a year.

DSotM is just a 2 or 3 times a year album to play all the way through whilst really listening and concentrating on it with no or very little distractions. Personally a dark room with a few lava lamps glooping away and a plasma ball set to sound activation offers a small light show enhancement to my enjoyment !

Can I presume VINYL is your preferred choice where possible?
I think I've got 20 Wishbone Ash albums in this format

I can recommend Tubular Bells and particularly Beethoven's 5th to be EXCELLENT speakers testers

Ha-ha - for me, I groan whenever I hear DSofM even on the radio. I never voluntarily listen to it.
Don't get me wrong - it's an amazing album, but I went off it one day, many years ago, and now find it amazing-but-tedious.
Music source - alas, I'm too practical; it's CD  I love the 'idea' of vinyl, its physicality, but sound quality means a lot more.
And here begins a new discussion

Twenty WA albums?! :-0 But...but...but... they only made 3 good 'uns...
