Combi boiler swap price

Options
Just looking to get a rough price on how much a boiler swap would be? Parts and materials supplied, labour only.

I'm guessing it's about a day or a day and a half to fully commission a new boiler. In my case I'd be reusing the the existing flue run so no major coring or engineering here. Literally, all a straight swap.

Ballpark figure - Cost of boiler + £600.
You may need a magnetic filter and possibly a scale reducer (Calmag or similar) if you are in a hard water area.

I'd also recommend seeing what price Octopus can do a heat pump for - Would have probably gone for one myself if I had waited until this year before replacing my old boiler. The price I had was very competitive.

Reusing the old Magna Clean Professional so I should be all good. Unfortunately my system is all fed by micro bore so I'm officially heat pump ineligible sadly!

You cannot use the existing flue from one manufacturer for another!

In plumbing and electrical work "run" is usually used to mean the (installed) pipes or cables along a particular route, so I can see why Dazza1902 thought you meant the existing flue would be reused.

When you get quotes etc if you refer to "new flue on the existing route" there would be less scope for confusion.  Also, it may be the existing route isn't up to the current regulations, so make some allowance for the installer to decide they need to do things differently.

Edited to add:  some installers will say you need a new magnetic filter regardless of model/age/condition of the old one.

We did the same swap, virtually identical boilers, we took the opportunity (of the system being drained) to have a power flush. Was well worth it, the rads are much hotter now.

I won’t embarrass myself by telling you what we (over) paid, but we do have a 10 year warranty on the new boiler.

A powerflush is often required to maintain the warranty of a new boiler on an existing system.
