    Regarding security is it necessary to formally log off a banking app, which usually requires a couple of actions as oppposed to switching off which is quicker?
    Locking the device would usually end any session on a mobile app and require reauthentication. Easy enough to test. Shutting it down would definitely end all sessions and require a password to decrypt local storage when the device is started up again. Assuming you are running a modern OS with encryption.
