End of cheap Nespresso pods?

Lidl hasn't sold their cheap Bellarom Nespresso pods for weeks in my local store. The store manager says they can no longer secure a supply from the distributor, so I assume this problem affects all Lidl stores.

Where else can similar priced Nespresso pods (original, not Vertuo) be purchased? Are they still sold at Aldi? Maybe its time to switch to bean-to-cup...

How much were the Lidl pods, per pod? There's plenty of options for original Nespresso compatible pods.

    £2.89 for 20. So 14.5p per pod.

I've not found any which are as good as the Nespresso branded ones, so getting a machine to make nice coffee and then putting not so nice coffee in it is a bit of a false economy for me.
The best alternatives I've come across are Starbucks ones from supermarkets (keep an eye out for discounts) and Dualit ones from Costco (£21.49 for 120 =18p/capsule).
I've had issues with some of the 3rd party ones not fitting quite right and leaking and even some where the capsule was too strong for my machine to punch holes through as I closed the handle (I had to return those to TK Maxx and argue that the product was faulty when they said they didn't accept returns on open foodstuff).

    Switch to Bean to cup.
    Much cheaper.
I think that'll be my next step; however, the machines can be more expensive, so factoring that in ups the price per cup.

The Starbucks ones I've tried all taste like the coffee is burnt! I have an Opal one machine which is designed for the compatible pods. My favourites are from Cru Cafe or M&S - but they're twice the price of the Lidl ones.

If You're not super fussy on the specific pods, you could try WonkyCoffee 100 for £27.99 or less on a subscribe and save.

Or, I've used Kaffe Kapslen before - £1.40 for 10 compatible pods. Or £9.50 for a selection of 100 pods.

If you buy enough and stack subscribe & save you can occasionally get Amazon's own brand ones for less.

I buy from Kaffekapslen too - many of the cheapest pods are just as good as the Nespresso branded pods. I buy caffeinated and decaff and, in my opinion, their decaff are nicer than the Nespresso decaff pods.
I don't bother with the branded pods at all now.

We have a Lavazza Modo and buy compatible pods from The Coffee Pod (original name huh 😏)
If/when we buy a new machine we’ll check out pods first and compatibility and then work backwards towards the machine itself

Aldi still sell their own. Set up an alert on Hotukdeals for "nespresso" and from time to time decent deals will crop up on compatible pods. Sometimes short dated branded ones from discounters, sometimes misprices or S&S deals on Amazon.
