New ‘diagnosis’

I have recently undergone tests for an as yet undiagnosed ailment. This has been disclosed on my travel Insurance. Also disclosed was undiagnosed back pain but thought to be general arthritic aging
I do not get on well with my GP practice as everything is put down to type 2 Diabetes and age - I am 78. I do not have much in the way of diagnosed ailments/conditions etc. and possible ‘all in the head syndrown ‘ actually written in my notes. Neither do I take much medication.
Now to my question we are travelling to USA soon and I have good medical insurance declaring all that I know.
Yesterday I checked my NHS App as this is the only way I find out what is going on I am never contacted direct by surgery. I was shocked to see that at least five years ago It had been noted ( not sure by whom) that I had several non cancerous tumours on a number of vertebrae together with spondylitis and their condition had been marked as stable! I have been troubled with back pain for many years by back pain which has never been investigated and therefore untreated. There is now a note on my records following the consultant letter to practice about unrelated investigations that a’new episode’ of heamangiomas on the spine is noted and is stable n o treatment required.

So my question here is obviously I now know about these and will have to take to getting them treated and why it has been missed and or ignored. I will of course also inform insurers but will I be covered as this diagnosis is being ignored so how will I be covered and if it is not officially diagnosed and under treatment will I be in anyway liable because officially I have no notification these conditions exist in my body!
This situation has me extremely worried as to whether and if , treatment does start should I cancel my trip assuming I will be covered as these tumours existed 5 +years ago per my records and will my sister and her granddaughter be covered.

Contact the insurer, tell them of the diagnosis and also that no treatment has been recommended by either GP or Consultant. From what you have written here that would be entirely accurate.

Do your sister and grand daughter have their own insurance?
They will not be covered by your insurance unless it is a group policy naming all three people. What cover they have will depend on what their policy states.0 -
Thank you for your replies as you say advising them what I know now would seem the way to go which is what I will do I guess there will either be an increase in premiums or they will not cover. My sister is on my Policy as we live together and are the same age.0

Are you sure that those notes are really yours, the ones causing concern. If you were not informed and no treatment recorded that sounds like someone has input the wrong information or info on wrong record. It's not unknown.I think you need to ask the practice to explain.Be reasonable to get the most info. Don't blame, just ask and persist for an explanation about the condition and a confirmation investigation. It's been a nightmare here with GPs as all retired in the pandemic when the gov gave them leave to go early. Now all locums - no continuity at all and I was refered to a procedure because !'d seen 3 different people and the first didn't read up to date notes which would have explained it. So you have my sympathy.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

So you have my sympathy. This is now showing on my digital GP notes followed by an observation from surgery of a ‘new ‘ incident but stable no action required. Not even a ‘patient advised’.I have had back pain for well over 5 years which is well documented within my notes but never investigated always ‘lose weight do more exercise etc. When on several occasions I was in so much pain family phoned and requested pain medication it has always been refused and told to take Paracetamol
Back at the first lockdown I was seen as I was in agony and told ‘it’s all in your head now go home and isolate’ I am a carer for my sister and we have absolutely no help for anything ever even after a car accident last year I had no treatment so you can imagine the pain we both suffered.Anyway this is going slightly off thread now bot thank you for your reply.0
