Help I need some advice on getting the best Desktop PC deal

Hi Everyone

This is one of my very few posts on this site so please go easy on me!!

I am looking to buy a desktop pc with either a 17 or 19" monitor - budget is approx £300 to £400 and I want to get the best spec for my money.

I use my computer primarily for business, surfing the web, managing my music and videos and occasional game play so i want something with a decent enough graphics card and the best spec i can get for the money.

Would be really grateful for any tips / links to best deals around in the sales at the moment.

Sorry Have to agree with the above a gaming card would take the bulk of your cash, plus £650 for the quad core processor for the videos..editing?

Don't get me wrong - i am not expecting a superb gaming machine for my budget !! I am just after something that will do normal tasks quickly and where the graphics
card is good enough to do a half decent job on a modern game.

Looks a decent machine. Did you note on dmxdimension:

So you could upgrade some bits to take you just over the £499 mark, take 10% off and you're getting the upgrades for free

Build yourself. Or update your old case. AMD cpu's have lost out good style to intel. Check out core architecture- it makes netburst of 2 years ago obsolete. See - http://www.tomshardware.com/us/ and also look at the charts for cpu's. The system you mention has a £30 graphics card?? I don't game so I wouldn't pay 200 quid for a card but you could save a lot by thinking of o/clock and maybe get a decent card for your budget.
I convert avi to dvd in 35 mins. with e2180.
