Will I be sent proof of NCD automatically by my previous insurers - or do I need to request it ?
I had 9 years - last September according to RAC documents - (Although I actually have 20+ but no way of proving it !!)
Next insurers (RBS) are asking for a ridiculous £123 with £45 cashback (Quidco) - for comprehensive cover for myself and wife on a group 14 car.. Its good being old !!

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

It should be part of the renewal offer you get from your current insurer. You sent that to the new insurer if they ask for it, most get it from the shared database these days though and don't need to ask for it.

Look on the renewal quote when it comes. It'll say.

And you don't have "20+", because no insurer recognises that much. You have as much as your last insurer recognises. It makes virtually zero difference beyond about five years, anyway.

I have just gone through the process of renewing my insurance from August 15th without any renewal docs from RAC
But my new insurers RBS do not require any proof of NCD luckily
I guess that it may have been lost in the post

With AXA, you can accrue up to 20 years of no claims.....

Were you sent it on the last 19+ occasions?

Different insurers recognise nd report different maximums. My current renewal states 20 years which is their maximum. Some only recognise 9 but make no difference as they typically all give no more of a discount after 9.

Most insurers accept the schedule of your renewal notice as proof as it will state the number of years of NCD you have.

Who checks NCD, when and how does vary. the MIB now host a NCD database but not all insurers subscribe to it.
