British Gas Tariffs

My Dad has been with B-Gas for many years, he gets quarterly bills which is his preference.
He has a smart meter which has not registered for some months, though he is still getting bills which are inline with expectations. Calls to their 'helpline' are futile.
I have been online to try and check what tariff are available for him. He is currently on 'Safeguard' but the 'site just sends me round in circles and will only let me compare fixed or standard tariffs.
Any tarif info' available ?

Safeguard says it’s a prepayment tariff? What was the reason he chose that one?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
He's never changed. Doesn't like DD. Though I'm wondering should I take it over if it is a decent saving ?0

Pre-pay is as cheap as DD, for the SVT, these days. paying in arrears is most expensive.1

I'm guessing as he pays bill on receipt, then that equivalent to paying in 'arrears' ?
It would be nice if there was a simple comparison table available.0 -
Energy tariffs are sadly quite complicated, so you won't find anything simple.Threesheds said:... a simple comparison table ...
To compare the costs of different payment methods, though, try Ofgem's regional tables. You can look up the price capped rates for where your old man lives:

You may remember the fuss last year about people being forced on to expensive prepayment plans when they were struggling to pay. This resulted in a 'levelization' (Robin Hood) exercise to have the premium on prepayment tariffs covered by everyone else, so now it's only those who pay on receipt of bill who are penalized. Prepayment is in many cases the cheapest option nowadays.
I'm not being lazy ...
I'm just in energy-saving mode.1 -
With that array of charges no wonder I'm confused !0
