Faulty fridge freezer and washer/dryer out of warranty

Options
I have a Hotpoint integrated fridge freezer and Hotpoint integrated washer/dryer.
I moved into a new built apartment five years ago and all the main appliances and white goods were came with the apartment so I don't know what my rights are as I didn't purchase them myself.
The fridge freezer needs a new door seal as the freezer seal is split.
The washer/dryer is potentially fixed but it was basically leaking and it now needs a new filter "plug". Sorry but I don't know what it's called.
Do I have any rights regarding the items being faulty even though I didn't buy them myself and they are out of warranty?

Your consumer rights mean you can pursue the retailer, which in this case will be the developer that built the apartment block. Hotpoint is a fairly normal, budget brand and five years' normal use wouldn't be unusual. While you could pursue the developer, I don’t think it's worth doing so. They'd almost certainly ask you to pay for inspections of both products and even if they did take action, you'd get a depreciated refund for each, which might mean a trivial sum like £50. Personally, I'd just get a local appliance repair person to come and fit a new seal and a new plug to the appliances. If you're reasonably handy, you could buy the parts and fit them yourself using a YouTube tutorial or similar.

A knackered seal is just wear and tear damage so no chance with that.
