Still don't think it was made clear up front that this was a non ebay purchase - loads of vat registered wholesalers sell on ebay and may well run their own websites or companies out side of that - and posting on the 'Ebay and other AUCTIONS' board without stating clearly up front that it was off a non ebay purchase did throw a lot of us off the scent....

I think from memory that if you are a trader buying from a wholesaler then your rights are different, and my own thinking is that you may not be entitled to return unwanted items.

However if they are willing to restock your items for a 'fee' and that was in their terms and conditions, then i'm not sure what else you can do other than accept that 'fee' or keep the items........?

The OP did state which website he bought from and made it clear that the purchase was from a registered wholesaler. I agree that the question might properly have been placed on possibly one of the 'legal' type forums, or general question forums rather than ebay and other auction board, however, since it is here there is a possibility that someone might have a definitive answer for him. However If the OP would like this thread moved to a different board I will be happy to do so.

Sorry Soolin but he did NOT say he bought it from a website, only that the seller was a registered wholesaler. I have bought from lots of registered wholesalers on EBAY, who are vat registered and who have thousands of customers and also have websites, AT NO POINT did he say he bought off a website hence the confusion!

I agree that he its fine that he asks the question here and that there have been some useful responses, but i found his response a touch aggressive..... no?

He was expecting responses which backed up his opinion. He didn't get them, so he got angry.

It's quite clear on government websites, Distance Selling Regulations ONLY apply to retail sales, not to bulk sales from a wholesaler to a trader.

Quote from https://www.businesslink.gov.uk regarding Distance Selling Regulations:

'...the rules don't cover selling products to other businesses...'

The OP can only legally return the goods if they are faulty, as per the Sale of Goods Act, in which case the supplier is only obliged to replace them, not refund the purchase price.

I would advise the OP to put the items up for sale on eBay and cut his losses.

LOL, in defence of whitey1987 I think he was probably expecting responses which were related to his question........ He didn't get them, instead he was basically flamed for being a bad ebayer by the first 3 replies (the authors of which obviously did not read a single word the poor guy wrote.. )

WHERE exactly did it say he DIDNT buy it on ebay Cosmo? It being an "ebay and other auctions" board and all that?

Oh well, if the company have a policy of refunding but charging a handling fee for it, at least thats something.....

The company is VideoTechUK if anyone has dealt with them before.

You could always read his post and answer that question yourself :D:p

and companies don't sell on ebay then? I have bought loads of stuff on ebay from wholesalers, limited companies, vat registered people and people on ebay who use names like VideoTechUK as id's (VideoTechUK is a registered I.D. on ebay for example...)

Still stand by the fact that the original poster did NOT say he hadnt bought the stuff on ebay - pretty important if you're posting on an 'EBAY AND OTHER AUCTIONS BOARD' and asking people on the 'EBAY AND OTHER AUCTIONS BOARD' for their opinion!

As i said though, there has been some useful info posted for the guy and thats the main thing.

    Nuf said.

I recently bought a bulk set of items for eBay

I think using the words "for ebay" and not "from ebay" kinda gave the game away.....

OP made only two references to ebay...one to say they bought items for ebay and other to say ebay market was dying.I think people read this post to quickly.....as I admit I did but I read it through again.....missing the important word.
